FEES & REBATES

At Climb Psychology we aim to provide an affordable service for people with competitive fees.

The cost of a standard 50-minute consultation is $270. Our fees are below the current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fee of $311 per hour. Consultations can be delivered either face-to-face or online via Zoom telehealth.

If you have a valid mental health treatment plan (MHTP) and referral letter from your doctor this will entitle you to a $141.85 rebate from Medicare if a session has been paid for and attended. After the Medicare rebate your out of pocket expense for a standard business hours consultation will be approximately $128.15 ($270 - $141.85).

Some private health insurers cover some of the cost of psychological services. Your insurer can provide you with personalised advice based on your level of cover. Once your consult has been paid for, we will provide you with a paid invoice which you can claim with your insurer directly. Private health insurance cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare services.

Please note that if report writing or support letters are required, these will attract an additional fee.

For all Medicare services, you are required to pay the full fee at the time of the appointment and will then be refunded a partial rebate through Medicare. Your out-of-pocket expense is the difference between the psychologist fee and the Medicare rebate. More information about Medicare rebates can be found here.

A Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) and referral letter from your GP or psychiatrist means you will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

We'll email you an online intake form to complete at least 48 hours before your first appointment. Please attach your MHTP and referral letter to this form. We offer Medicare online processing, meaning that your rebate will be directed into the bank account registered with Medicare following your session. Medicare usually makes these transfers immediately, but they can take up to 48 hours to be processed by your bank.

Payment

There are no cash or eftpos facilities on site, therefore only online payment processing is accepted. Prior to your initial appointment, we will email you an intake form which will request card payment and Medicare details. Payments accepted include Visa credit/debit cards, Mastercard credit/debit cards and American Express credit cards. Your details will be stored and payment and rebate (if applicable) will be processed automatically post session via our practice management software called Halaxy.

Halaxy removes the hassle of payment administration by enabling payments to be electronically managed. Once your details are entered into Halaxy, there is no need to handle payments again so we can separate financial and clinical arrangements and use your session time effectively. To read more about Halaxy’s privacy and security, see here.

Cancellations

We certainly understand that issues and emergencies arise, however, we ask that you always try to provide us with as much notice as possible should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please send an email to admin@climbpsychology.com.au at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. We do not have an inbound telephone. In the event that you need to cancel your appointment and provide less than 48 hours notice, 50% of the consultation fee will be collected via stored card details as this appointment will not be able to be filled. Please note that Medicare does not cover cancellations.
